There are three types of graves

1. 2 person flat marker

Two people can be buried in this grave and a flat marker monument can be erected.

2. 2 person single monument  

Two people can be buried in this grave and a Single standalone monument can be erected with upto 2 names inscribed on it.

3. 4 person double monument

Four people can be buried in this grave and a single monument can be erected with up to four names inscribed on it.

The cemetery is owned and managed by Meadowvale cemetery by Mount Pleasant Group. Canadian Canara Vision Inc has bought over 200 plots. These plots will be allotted to the community members at a discounted cost. The interment right is transferable to any family or community member. 

We can organize for a one-on-one meeting with the Meadowvale Cemetery team to go over any questions that we may not have answers to.

Formal blessing of the cemetery was held on 20th June 2015, by Fr. Henry Alva, Fr. Edwin D’Souza, Fr. Francis Noronha, Fr. Andrew Lewis, & other priests. The plots are now available for anyone to purchase.

Yes, Catholic priest will come to this cemetery for the last rites. Polish Catholic church group has a reserved area, with grave lots, for their own community since 2002.

  • Refreshments after the burial service 
  • Embalming of the body

These services are offered by the visitation centre and some can be obtained privately like casket, monument and  after the funeral, community gathering. We can assist to help keep these costs as low as possible.

CCVI does not have options for insurance. However, we can refer you to person/s who will provide free advice on this matter.  Please  ask the person who gets in contact with you.

Arun Mendes :

Arun Mendes is a businessman with Postgraduate degree in law, business management and Economics. His business acumen encompasses dealing in Real Estate, developing infrastructures. He is a dealer for General Motors in Udupi and Mangalore Districts in Karnataka India.

He is a Director of several charitable institutions in Mangalore and also promotes Divine World TV broadcasting religious programmes.

Gilbert D’ Souza:

Gilbert D'souza , current Chairman of CCVI was the General Manager of Al Taqa Equipment LLC in Abu Dhabi, a business in Building Management and AC controls, having agencies for Honeywell, Schneider and Bacol Air. He is also an investor and currently resides in Mississauga along with his family.

After his B Com graduation from prestigious St. Aloysius college, Mangalore, he worked for Reserve Bank Of India, Bakelite Haylam and Hindustan Lever in Bombay, and subsequently joined Unilever in the Middle East holding the post of Sales Manager for 35 years. An ardent lover of konkani culture and heritage and strives to make a difference in the lives of konkans residing in Canada.

 


Josephine Soosay:

Prior to immigrating to Canada from Goa India, has worked in Gulf countries. Keen interest in promoting youth, social development and religious activities, helping to lead lives of curiosity, courage, compassion, and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

 


Martin Menezes:

Martin is a venture capitalist investor with over 20 years experience in Finance, & Mortgage business. Martin has been consistently in the top 1% of mortgage financing across Canada as a Mortgage Specialist with Royal Bank of Canada and Bank of Montreal. Currently Martin is the President of Redcrest Mortgage Corporation and is involved as a partner in a manufacturing and property management business.

 


Maxim Mendes :

Max Mendes has a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He is the Chairman of Max Mendes Group and has business interests in Canada and India which includes Real Estate, Immigration & Settlement Services, Exports, Development of Commercial and Residential properties and Software development. He is also a Real Estate Broker with Royal Lepage Terrequity Realty, based in Toronto.

A key promoter of Konkani language, culture and heritage in Canada. He is the President of Canara World Foundation Inc. Founder member of Mangalorean Association of Canada and Konkan Catholics of Brampton. He is the current chairperson of Canadian Canara Vision Inc.

 


Nelson D’ Costa:

Mr. Nelson D’ Costa has over 25 years of Canadian and International experience with private and public listed companies. Nelson D’ Costa works as a CFO with a major importer and wholesaler of produce and also has his own a tax and accounting firm under the name Nelson D’ Costa Professional Corporation (NDCPC).

Credentials: Member of the following Associations; Chartered Professional Accountants – CPA Ontario; American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - (USA) Virginia State Board of Accountancy - CPA Society (USA);Chartered Institute of Management Accountants - (UK);Chartered Global Management Accountant – International; Licensed International Financial Analyst – International; The Institute of Cost Accountants of India - (India);Masters in Financial Management MBA (NMIMS) – (India) ;

 


Peter Lobo:

Peter Lobo has been practising law for over 20 years, he is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and has been a Special Counsel for the Government of India representing the various Ministries and departments of the Union of India, He has also been the Counsel for the Government of Maharashtra and a Asst. Prosecutor with the UN W.C.T. He specializes in strategy, legal due diligence in the field of International Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions and in Intellectual Property Rights. His qualifications are B.A,. LL.M. J.D., and a Fellow of the Government Law College Bombay. He has studied at the St Xavier’s High School (Bombay), St Xavier’s College (Bombay) Government Law College (Bombay), and the University of Southern California.

He is proud of his cultural heritage and is keen to inculcate the same in the youth of the community.

 


Boniface Viegas:

Boniface is a Engineering graduate from Bangalore Univiersity. He is currently a IT operations manager with a major corporation.He supports CCVI with his wife, Sharon, a business owner. He has worked in the UAE and India. He enjoys helping people better themselves by providing encouragement with a positive attitude

 


Ronald Rego :

President of Rego International, an Import and Distribution Co. established in 2001. An internationally exposed Executive, who has the capabilities of adapting and fusing working environments of the western and the eastern businesses. Worked in India, Sultanate of Oman, United Arab Emirates and in Canada having work exposure in Accounts, Administration, Commercial and in Sales Departments. B.Com from University of Mangalore,India.Certificate in Business Administration in Marketing from University of Ottawa, Canada.

Meadowvale Cemetery will look after all landscaping needs, into the future, at no extra cost.

CCVI has made bulk purchase of the plots and hence can provide the savings to all members of our community.  Please compare the costs from other cemeteries 

  1. Contact one of the directors either by email, phone.
  2. When you are contacted, questions asked will be what grave number would you prefer.
  3. Finalise the total amount owed
  4. Decide on an initial reservation amount.
  5. The balance will then be divided into interest free equal installments
  6. Forms, agreements will be filled and signed.
  7. We will need a void cheque to manage the installments collection.
  8. When the total amount has been received, the payments will stop.

 

 

 

This is a sub-contract between Meadowvale Cemetery and you, as purchaser. Once purchased by you from CCVI, CCVI will provide a certificate to you and forward a copy to Meadowvale Cemetery, you can approach Meadowvale Cemetery, who will do the needful.

For example, for a single monument, the price in 2010 was $1900.00. In 2019, the price is $3237.00, which works to an increase of nearly 70%.
